He's doing it again...

You can almost see the well oiled wheels turning in Dubya's brain. Why waste money developing alternate fuels when there is still plenty of money to be made in the oil business, if you can just get your hands on it?

So you go invade Afghanistan with the minimum force needed to establish positive control, on the pretext of killing or capturing Terrorists. In fact, we only used 11,000 troops there, and most of Al-Qaeda escaped.

But now you have a US friendly government in place and a country with a HELLUVA LOT of oil and gas reserves.

Next, you go invade Iraq, on the pretext that they were linked with Al-Qaeda. Oh, and they have Weapons of Mass Destruction. And they're mean to their people. What you DON'T mention, is that Iraq happens to have the third largest oil reserves in the world. The other two being Canada and Saudi Arabia, neither of which we can invade because one might fight back, and the other might pull out their oil money.

So it's Iraq or nothing. And the funds from the sale of their oil gets funnelled to a US bank. That'll do nicely thank you. I'd love to be an auditor on THAT account. Or maybe not. I think my life expectancy would drop considerably...

For those of you unsure of the geography of the middle east, here is a little map, extracted from CNN.com

Now you have Iran slap bang in the middle of Iraq and Afghanistan. And they have a lot of oil too. And the second largest gas reserves. And they just announced finding more oil.

So what's the next step?

Bush says U.S. reviewing Iran ties to Al-Qaida

He could at least try and not be so obvious about it...

Happy Tuesday.
