Continually performing the same action expecting different results is the definition of insanity. It has been tried with Absolutely Fabulous, Doctor Who, Changing Rooms, Coupling and now The Office. You cannot take a British comedy, rework it with American actors and expect it to work. At least use different scripts! The BBC bought the rights to friends and made coupling, which was completely different beyond the concept of three girls, three boys, all twenty-something that hung out together. NBC then bought the whole script for Coupling, reworked it with American actors and it flopped. So did AbFab. The Office will too. Here's a concept: Buy the original series and run it. It will cost less and you will make more money. Try it one time. If it doesn't work I will testify on behalf of Michael Jackson, insist that Terri's feeding tube be re-inserted and vote for Jed Bush when he runs for president in 2012.
