Latest Older Searching for something to Search for. * 2005-02-05 - 11:47 a.m. Subtle changes are taking place on the Internet. Micro$oft brought out their new search engine, as the latest part in their strategy to dominate all things geek. As I've mentioned (at length) we are #1 on google and yahoo for our primary search term, and #20-something for our secondary search term. Now MSN comes along, and we're still number 1 for the primary, but we're number 8 for the secondary, which tells me that they are using a different algorithm to calculate positions. Because of the hype of MSN Search for the last few days, our traffic has gone up, and I'm sure in consequence others have gone down. This is undoubtedly a pattern that's getting played out all over the net. Sites that were not so visible before are coming into view, and those that previous had a high standing are falling out of favor. A Good example of this would be if you type the word sex into both MSN and google, and look at the differences.
