With over 1000 of it's citzens dead in one month, it is hard to know what the hell to call what is going on in Iraq right now, but it ain't good, and is clearly getting worse.

It seems also that the Taliban are gaining ground in Afghanistan again, and the Iranian President's letter to President Bush, while heartfelt, does suggest he may have spent too long at the fair...

Pakistan and India are probably going to go batshit over Kashmir again soon, and Russia is making subtle threats to the US about its very unsubtle threats to beat the crap out of Iran.

All in all the world is a crappy place to be right now. Hindsight is always 20/20, but it seems to me that, as most right thinking people have said for a long ass time, we should not have invaded Iraq. yes Saddam Hussein would still be in power, but we would probably have made a bigger dent in Al-Qaeda by now and should have effectively wiped out the Taliban, because we would have been able to devote all our military resources there. Iraq would have been better off because as bad as it was under Saddam, the number of violent deaths was a lot lower and the stability and security and standard of living was a lot higher.

It is likely that we would have been able to spend more time on diplomatic options instead of helping people who hate us learn how to kill us by providing the Iraq battlefields. Probably this would have helped the Palestinian situation and made it less likely that we would have a Hamas lead government.

I could be wrong about all this. But I really think, right now, we should be finding ways to make peace with people instead of pissing off more and more countries. But that's just my opinion,
your mileage may vary.

I don't have much else to say on this subject right now. Just wanted to get on record that I think the world is definitely off its meds at the moment...
